In 1977 a woman named Antoinette Rami who fled the Lebanese civil war and took the city of Jerash which is 48 km north of Amman the capital of Jordan as her home, started what is now known as the Lebanese House Restaurant.
Little did she know that her reputation as " UM Khalil" will live way beyond her, and that what was once a tiny restaurant that offered all the home made meals made by her, would turn into the best Lebanese restaurant in Jordan.
The ruins of the Greco –Roman city of GERASA are located in Jerash which is one of the largest stand well preserved sites of Roman architecture in the world outside of Italy. We are proudly located in this ancient city that bursts with history, we have almost become a historical monument amongst the ancient ruins. No one can mention Jerash without thinking "Um Khalil" they are intertwined!
